Well, Matthew learned about a lunar eclipse the other night as we left Samford and he exclaimed, "Look, the moon looks like a banana!"
Sorry we have been away from our updating so long...it has been a busy month. I have been in the middle of show choir season at HMS, grad school at UAB, the production of Elegies, and Birmingham Children's Choir. Andy has been in the midst of a major remodeling project at WVSU which involves all kinds of digital audio transformations I cannot begin to describe; Samford also finished basketball season just to start baseball and Matthew is a never ending source of activity.
Matthew's biggest news of course is that on Thursday of this week he will turn five! He is super excited and tells everyone who will listen that his birthday is March 6th. He has received two gifts to date. A stack of books from Mrs. Lynn - of which his favorite is Skippyjon Jones (a hoot!) We also got a package in the mail from Tom and Jane - he LOVES to get mail addressed to him! He was very excited to find a grow-a-giant butterfly and frog, which we have not tried out yet and a rubber band gun (and a giant bag of rubber bands) which we have tried out in every corner of the house and Mom's school and car. It works great. Almost too great. He loves it! Andy's trying to train him to take out the neighbor's cat with it. Thank you Tom and Jane!! Really. :)
On Friday, I picked Matthew up from Dawson. He and all his friends were covered in icing and cake and were yelling, "We had a birthday party today. It was Dr. Seuss' birthday today. The Cat in the Hat came to our school today."
We got in the car and Matthew said, "Don't tell my friends, but it wasn't the real Cat in the Hat. It was just a person in a costume."
"How do you know?"
"There was a slit in the eyes and I could see their head underneath." Hmmm.....how long is Santa going to last?
We are looking forward to Spring Break, which is right around the corner! But, since UAB and HMS breaks fall on different weeks, we'll be right here in Birmingham. :( However, it will be a good time to relax and just appreciate a lighter schedule. We love you all and hope you are well.
Cherith, Andy and Matthew
